Notice of Deadline Change: Applications to 2024 Pathways Must Be Submitted by December 31, 2023
To facilitate the transition to the new MyIntealth™ environment, the deadline for submitting applications to the Pathways for ECFMG Certification for the 2024 Match has changed to December 31 at 6:00 p.m., Eastern Time (ET) in the United States. This means that international medical graduates (IMGs) who need to meet the clinical and communication skills requirements for ECFMG Certification and plan to participate in the 2024 National Resident Matching Program® (NRMP®) Main Residency Match® (The Match®) must submit a 2024 Pathways application by 6:00 p.m. on December 31, 2023.
If you are an IMG who needs to complete a Pathway in order to participate in the 2024 Match, and you have not yet submitted a Pathways application, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible.
IMGs who need to meet the clinical and communication skills requirements for ECFMG Certification and do not submit a 2024 Pathways application by 6:00 p.m. on December 31 will not meet eligibility requirements for the 2024 Match. There will be no exceptions. IMGs who do not submit a 2024 Pathways application by the deadline and need to meet the clinical and communication skills requirements for ECFMG Certification will need to wait until the Pathways application opens for IMGs who wish to participate in the 2025 Match.
Deadlines for Submitting Information and Documentation in Support of a 2024 Pathways Application Have Not Changed
Deadlines for submitting documentation in support of a 2024 Pathways application, including Occupational English Test (OET) Medicine scores, registration/licensure documentation for Pathway 1, attestations for Pathways 2-5, and Mini-Clinical Evaluation Exercise (Mini-CEX) evaluations for Pathway 6, have not changed. If your Pathways application is submitted by 6:00 p.m. on December 31, supporting documentation may continue to be submitted to ECFMG for processing up to the currently published deadlines, and you will be able to continue to check the status of your application using the on-line application.
For Pathways requirements, including deadlines for required documentation in support of an application, please read the Pathways section of the ECFMG website, including the page(s) relevant to the Pathway to which you are applying.
Intealth and ACGME Partner on Physician Well-being Seminar
Intealth™ and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), two leaders in the education and training of physicians, held a seminar November 19 in Chicago to promote physician well-being. The seminar, funded in part by the U.S. Department of State, focused on the unique needs of foreign national physicians training in the United States and was attended by an engaged group of J-1 physicians from graduate medical education (GME) programs in the Chicago area.
Physician well-being is a timely issue and one that is critical to the ability of trainees to learn effectively and to provide quality care to patients. While all trainees need support during the transition to U.S. GME and beyond, foreign national trainees have unique needs. The seminar was designed to learn more about and help to address the needs of this critical cohort, which comprises a significant portion of our physician workforce.
